Yoga teacher, Blackheath Yogasana
I first practised yoga in 2002, starting with Iyengar — its precision and attention to alignment gave me a grounding I still draw on. Over time my own practice moved toward Ashtanga vinyasa, drawn by its discipline and the way breath and movement lock together into a single, sustained line of attention.
I was taught to teach by Stewart Gilchrist of the East London School of Yoga.
What I teach now I call yogāsana — a strong vinyasa practice that fuses Ashtanga postures with Jivamukti ethics and Iyengar alignment, the whole of it linked by breath and resting on a substrate of yoga philosophy. It's a physical practice first, but never only a physical one.
